Granada & the Alhambra
50 minutes by car
The Alhambra & Generalife
The greatest Moorish palace in the world. Book Nasrid Palace tickets well ahead, or take a guided skip-the-line tour and let someone else worry about it.

Flamenco in Sacromonte
Raw, close-up flamenco in the cave houses of Sacromonte, the artform in the neighbourhood that shaped it. Pair with a sunset walk through the Albaicín.

Tapas, the Granada Way
Granada still gives a free tapa with every drink. Follow the locals bar to bar, or join a guided tapas crawl to find the rooms tourists never see.

Stargazing on Your Doorstep
Some of Europe’s darkest skies begin right here in Alhama de Granada, and Sky Andaluz is where you meet them, at Andalucía’s largest public observatory.
An evening runs from sunset drinks to a domed planetarium and the great telescopes, with planets, galaxies and nebulae brought close through their Pegasus SmartEye camera.

Villa Romana de Salar
Twenty minutes from the retreat lies one of Andalucía's best-kept secrets: a late-Roman villa with some of the finest in-situ mosaics outside Rome itself. Hunting scenes, the celebrated Venus, and an active dig that's still turning up treasures every season.
Guided visits run most weekends and it's never crowded. Ask us and we'll arrange it around your morning by the pool.

10–40 minutes
Alhama de Granada
Our own white town, perched on a dramatic gorge. Wander the old quarter, peer into the tajo, and linger over coffee in the plaza.

The Ancient Baths
Alhama's hot springs have drawn Romans, Moors and everyone since. Take the waters at the historic balneario, minutes from the retreat.

Frigiliana
Regularly voted Spain's prettiest village, a tumble of whitewash and bougainvillea in the hills above Nerja. Combine with the coast for a perfect day.
The Coast & Further Afield

Nerja & the Coast
Sea views from the Balcón de Europa, beach lunches, the famous caves. The Mediterranean is only an hour from your suite.

Sierra Nevada
Mainland Spain's highest peaks: snowshoeing in winter, 4×4 safaris to 2,500m in summer, and stargazing skies all year round.

Córdoba & Málaga
The Mezquita's candy-striped arches or Málaga's museums and Alcazaba. Both make superb day trips with an early start and a long lunch.
